![]() The ammo-load is not that good so trigger discipline is a must. Boasting the same armament as the Yak-7, the Yak-3 has similar punch to the Bf 109 F-4 and G-2 and the advantage of having the guns in the nose so you only have to worry about vertical targeting when setting gun convergence. I would rate the Yak-3, in my personal opinion, taking into account tier allocation and the opponents on that tier, closely followed by the Yak-7, the best of the current Yak line ( Note, I have yet to try out the Yak-9P) - in HB. Also, your turn-time depends on your speed. At certain altitudes a plane might catch up with you but it might have troubles achieving the same feat at a different height. As well as that, and as 'Captain' Jack_Sparrow has said, altitude plays a role in the max speed. A Bf109 K will out climb a Yak-3 who in turn will out climb a Bf 109 E. A FW190 will out dive a Yak-3 who in turn will out dive a Zero. Who are you fighting and how? A Zero will out turn a Yak-3 who in turn will out turn a FW190. When judging a plane, put it into perspective. I mean think about YAK 9 T or LA5 and 7.įirstly,it depends on what aircraft you want to outturn, either verticaly or horizontaly, some may be superior than the yak3 in certain areas at certain speeds. Also what mode are you playing? HB or Arcade>? Why u only tell us something about Soviet Success Dude? Dont cry most people think the Soviets are mostly OP. The problem seems to be that other aircraft are over-performing, making the Yak-3 seem worse than it really is. īeta Tester AussieJeff has tested it, and found that it is performing just fine. Why is it you have to fly an Aircobra or a BF109 ? Come on, I spent all that time, and effort to reach a level to get the Yak3, and its junk ! rubbish, a load of something you would need a 50 Ton dump truck to haul away. Question = So why does it fly like rubbish in the game ?, why do almost all other aircraft out turn the Yak3, why is there so much ****** going on ? Consequently, the Luftwaffe issued an order to "avoid combat below five thousand metres with Yakovlev fighters lacking an oil cooler intake beneath the nose!" Luftwaffe fighters in combat with the Yak-3 tried to use surprise tactics, attacking from above. In the ensuing dogfight, the Luftwaffe lost three Junkers Ju 87s and four Bf 109Gs, for no losses to the Yaks. On 17 July 1944, eight Yaks attacked a formation of 60 German aircraft, including escorting fighters. The following day, Luftwaffe activity over that section of the front had virtually ceased. Soviet Yak-3 fighters shot down 15 German aircraft for the loss of one Yak destroyed and one damaged. A large dogfight developed on 16 June 1944, when 18 Yak-3s clashed with 24 German aircraft. During 431 missions, 20 Luftwaffe fighters and three Ju 87s were shot down while Soviet losses amounted to two Yak-3s shot down. The regiment had the task of gaining air superiority. Yak-3 service tests were conducted by 91st IAP of the 2nd Air Army, commanded by Lt Colonel Kovalyov, in June–July 1944. The new aircraft began to reach front line units during summer 1944. It was used mostly as a tactical fighter, flying low over battlefields and engaging in dogfights below 13,000 ft. It was robust, easy to maintain, and a highly successful dog-fighter. Lighter and smaller than Yak-9 but powered by the same engine, the Yak-3 was a forgiving, easy-to-handle aircraft loved by both rookie and veteran pilots and ground crew as well. After the war ended, it flew with the Yugoslav and Polish Air Forces. Marcel Albert, the official top-scoring World War II French ace, who flew the Yak in USSR with the Normandie-Niémen Group, considered it a superior aircraft to the P-51D Mustang and the Supermarine Spitfire. It was one of the smallest and lightest major combat fighters fielded by any combatant during the war, and its high power-to-weight ratio gave it excellent performance. Robust and easy to maintain, it was much liked by pilots and ground crew alike. The Yakovlev Yak-3 ( Russian language : Як-3 ) was a World War II Soviet fighter aircraft.
